Role Overview
As a Systems Engineer I at Catchpoint, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the highest possible uptime for Catchpoint’s global infrastructure. This involves monitoring and troubleshooting Linux server issues, performing OS/application upgrades and migrations, and accepting and registering incidents from the support team. You’ll also play a key role in incident management, tracking the progress of incidents to ensure they’re resolved within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities:
As a Systems Engineer I, you will contribute to the Catchpoint Operations team, ensuring the highest possible uptime for the customer and internal network. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring Catchpoint’s node infrastructure and troubleshooting Linux server issues across various third-party data centers and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
- Perform OS/application upgrades and server migrations to new environments.
- Accept and register incidents from the support team and classify incidents according to specified options/categories.
- Execute the first attempt to solve customer incidents and escalate to the next level based on SLAs.
- Track the progress of owned incident tickets throughout the entire lifecycle to ensure resolution within agreed SLAs.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science & Networking, obtained in 2022 or 2023.
- 0-6 months of experience, with recent graduates welcome to apply.
- Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting remote access issues.
- Excellent communication skills and active listening skills.
- Certification in Linux is preferred.
- Basic troubleshooting knowledge in Linux (Red Hat/CentOS) & network troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of Bash/Shell Scripting, Web Server.
- Fundamental understanding of large scale networking, including OSI Model, DNS, SSL/TLS, WINS, TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, Routing, ACLs, and switching
- Good to have Linux virtualization knowledge (KVM)
- Ready to work in a 24/5 rotational shift.
