GSSSB Invites Online Applications for 1,663 Work Assistant (Class-3) Vacancies
The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has released a recruitment notification for 1,663 Work Assistant (Class-3) posts in the Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar Department. Candidates holding a Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification can apply online through the OJAS portal before 29 October 2026.
Who Can Apply?
- Candidates who possess a Diploma in Civil Engineering or an equivalent approved technical diploma.
- Candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Civil Engineering are strictly not eligible to apply.
- Age must be between 18 and 33 years as on 29 October 2026 (relaxations applicable for reserved categories).

Syllabus: GSSSB
- Reasoning & Data Interpretation: Coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, clock & calendar, Venn diagrams, arithmetic progression, analogies, and charts/tables.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Number system, LCM/HCF, percentages, profit & loss, simple and compound interest, ratios, work & wages, speed & distance, and mensuration.
- General Awareness & Languages: Indian Constitution, current affairs, and basic comprehension in Gujarati and English.
- Technical (Civil Engineering): Irrigation engineering, water resource management, surveying & advance surveying, soil mechanics, concrete technology, estimation and costing, hydrology, hydraulics, RCC design, engineering & structural mechanics, and construction materials.

How to Prepare
Our tips, based only on what the notification asks for:
- Review core diploma-level Civil Engineering topics including Irrigation Engineering, Water Resource Management, Surveying, and Hydraulics, which carry 120 marks in Part B.
- Practice Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude sets regularly to secure solid scoring in the 60 combined marks of Part A.
- Keep yourself updated with current affairs of state and national importance, and brush up on basic Indian Constitution provisions.
- Remember that both Part A and Part B have independent 40% minimum qualifying cut-offs along with a 0.25 negative marking penalty.
